When I first became a mom in 2015, I couldn’t wait to play games with them. Playing games is one of my all-time favorite pastimes. Some of my favorite childhood games were Hi-Ho Cherry-O, Candyland, and Hungry Hippos, but all of those games are a bit too advanced for my 2-year-old daughter.
So I wondered… are there any games out there for my 2-year-old?
And guess what? I recently learned there ARE games for young toddlers as young as 18-months-old such as Roll & Play.
I purchased Roll & Play for my daughter’s Easter basket and it was a hit in our family.
It is currently an Amazon’s Choice and is one of the best first games to introduce to kids. My mom even bought it for her grandkids after I introduced it to her. In this post, I’ll explain why this game is rated 5 stars by over 800 reviewers and how to play it.

Soo What’s this Game?
It comes with a large, plush dice of six different colors. The youngest child will throw the dice to determine the category color to choose from. There are six different card categories: colors, numbers, body parts, emotions, animal sounds, and actions. Then, your child will do what the card says. For example, “Make a surprised face,” “Pat your head 7 times,” or, “Moo like a cow. “
Why do I Recommend this Game?
Clear Instructions– Giving instructions to a child can be frustrating, but this game’s directions are very easy to follow. Plus, you can easily change the rules to accommodate your child’s skills.
Develops Critical Skills– It gives your toddler the opportunity to develop his or her gross motor skills, creativity, and active play. This game has six learning domains at once: counting, colors, body parts, actions, emotions, and animal sounds.
Fun for Everyone– It’s hard to find non-mundane kid games for adults. This kid game is one of the few my husband and I enjoy playing.
AWARD WINNER– It is the winner of many awards including the Play Advances Language Award, Oppenheim Platinum Award, is a Toy of the Year Finalist, and more
My family plays this game often, and most importantly, it’s one of my daughter’s favorites. We will continue to play this game as our family grows.
What’s your favorite game you play with your kids? I’d love to hear about it!
